Who we are

Cincinnati Custom Concrete is a concrete and asphalt contractor based in Maineville, Ohio, working across Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and the Dayton area. The company has been in business since 2019 and is owned by Austin Thies.

We pour driveways, patios, walkways, steps, slabs and pool decks, and we install stamped and decorative finishes. Alongside the concrete work we resurface sound but tired slabs, install epoxy and polyaspartic floor coatings, and handle asphalt paving, sealcoating and commercial parking lots. The full range is on our services page.

More than 300 driveways since 2019, plus the patio and decorative work that customers mention most often in reviews, across Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and the Dayton area.

What we would rather be judged on is the detail further down this page: the crew gets named by customers, by first name, without being asked to be. That is difficult to arrange and easy to verify.

Austin Thies

Owner

Austin founded Cincinnati Custom Concrete in 2019 and owns and runs it today. He is listed as the company principal on its Better Business Bureau profile, and his LinkedIn profile lists him as Owner at Cincinnati Custom Concrete.

He answers the reviews personally. Roughly 86% of the company’s 260 public reviews carry an owner response, and that includes the critical ones. On a small contractor that is a meaningful signal: it means complaints reach the person who can actually do something about them rather than stopping at a marketing inbox.

Where the expertise sits. The judgment calls on a concrete job are not really about concrete. They are about whether a slab can be resurfaced instead of replaced, whether the base needs over-excavating, which way water will run when the job is finished, and whether a customer is about to spend money on a finish when they should be spending it below the surface. That is the experience the business is built on.

What you can verify. Austin is listed as the company principal on the Better Business Bureau profile for Cincinnati Custom Concrete, and his LinkedIn profile lists him as Owner. The company has completed more than 300 driveways since 2019 across Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and the Dayton area, alongside patio, decorative, coating and commercial work. Ohio does not issue a state license for residential concrete, so insurance and a written estimate are the documents worth asking any contractor to produce, and we are happy to provide both.

The crew, as customers describe them

These profiles are built from public customer reviews rather than written biographies, so you can see the work each person is associated with and read the feedback in the customer’s own words. Every quote below is verbatim, and each name appears in a published review.

Shane

Crew lead

Named in 11 of our last 20 reviews, more than anyone else in the company. Customers almost always write it as "Shane and his crew", which is how a crew lead shows up in reviews. Appears on driveways, patios, stamped work and pool decks.

“Shane and his crew were amazing! They were polite and professional and walked us through every step of the process to ensure we got exactly what we wanted. They all have an eye for detail and our patio and pool deck turned out perfect!”Anna Marie Logan, Google review, July 23, 2026

Tommy

Crew lead

Named on front step rebuilds and on a job where rain was closing in. Customers describe him as communicative and as having a plan ready rather than improvising.

“Tommy and Crew were great! They were very communicative, made sure everything was to our liking, and went above and beyond. Even with the looming rain, they worked to get the work done and had plans in place to be sure the rain wouldn’t mess up our fresh concrete.”Brianna & Scott Kleiser, Google review, August 19, 2026

Calvin

Project manager

Described by a customer specifically as a project manager, and specifically for sorting out a problem on a job that had already been completed. That is the part worth reading twice.

“The job was completed quickly and in the timeframe I was quoted. Calvin is a great project manager and worked with me to fix a problem with the original job.”Mary S., Google review, August 17, 2026, four stars

Garrett and Elijah

Finishing crew

Named alongside Shane on stamped and decorative work, which is the work where crew skill is most visible and least forgiving.

“Garrett, Shane, Elijah, and the whole crew did a great job. They were easy to work with, paid attention to the details, and really took their time to make sure everything looked right.”Andrew, Google review, August 22, 2026

Tyler

Finishing crew

Named on a combined porch, sidewalk and stamped patio project, the kind of job where three different surfaces have to line up.

“Shane, Tyler, and crew did a great job on our porch, sidewalk, and stamped concrete patio. They were very professional, easy to communicate with, and took pride in their work.”Sam Queen, Google review, July 25, 2026

Michael and Jake

Sales and coordination

Michael is described by a customer as the sales representative and Jake for being quick to answer questions. These are the people you deal with before a crew ever arrives.

“Michael, the sales guy, was awesome to work with and made the whole process easy.”Andrew, Google review, August 22, 2026

Why named crew members matter

When customers mention a specific crew member by name, it tells you something a star rating cannot: which team handled that type of project, and how the job went from the customer’s point of view. Shane and Tommy lead crews, Calvin manages projects, Garrett, Elijah and Tyler work on finishing, and Michael and Jake handle sales and coordination.

If you would like to know who is scheduled for your project, ask when we quote and we will tell you.

How the team is built

The reason the same names keep appearing in reviews is the way the crew is put together. This is published on our careers page and it is worth repeating here, because it explains why the same names come up so often in customer reviews.

We promote from within

Most of our crew leads started as laborers, learned the trade on our crews and worked up. Somebody who came up through the company knows how the company expects a slab to be finished.

Year-round work

Steady, full-season work across Ohio, Northern Kentucky and the Dayton area. Crews that are not chasing the next job stay put, and crews that stay put are the ones customers recognize.

Paid on-the-job training

No experience is required to start as a laborer. New team members train on site under an experienced crew lead, and the route runs laborer to skilled finisher to crew lead or foreman.

The roles on the crew are laborer and crew member, crew lead and foreman, CDL driver, and estimator or project coordinator. If that sounds like work you want, see our current openings on careers.

Questions about the company

Who owns Cincinnati Custom Concrete?

Austin Thies. He founded the company in 2019 and owns and runs it today. He is listed as the company principal on the Better Business Bureau profile for Cincinnati Custom Concrete, and his LinkedIn profile lists him as Owner at Cincinnati Custom Concrete. He also personally answers roughly 86% of the company’s public reviews, including the critical ones.

How long have you been in business?

Cincinnati Custom Concrete has been in business since 2019 and is based in Maineville, Ohio. In that time the company has completed more than 300 driveways, along with patio, decorative, coating and commercial work, across Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and the Dayton area.

Who will actually be working on my property?

The crew leads named most often in our reviews are Shane and Tommy, with Garrett, Elijah and Tyler appearing regularly on finishing crews, Calvin named as a project manager, and Michael and Jake on the sales and coordination side. Ask at the estimate who is scheduled for your job. It is a fair question and you should ask it of any contractor you are considering.

Why does your team page quote reviews instead of listing qualifications?

Ohio does not issue a state license for residential concrete work, so there is no state credential to list. Customer reviews that name individual crew members show which team handled which type of project, and you can read that feedback in the customer’s own words on our public review profiles.

Do you have photographs of the team?

The images on this page are from our own job sites and show our crews at work rather than stock photography.

Are your crews employees or subcontractors?

We hire and train our own crews, and the roles we recruit into include laborers, crew members, crew leads and foremen, CDL drivers, and estimators or project coordinators. Staffing on any given project can vary with scope and schedule, so if you would like to know who is assigned to your job, ask when we quote and we will tell you.

What areas do you cover?

Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and the Dayton area, working from Maineville, Ohio. On the Ohio side that includes Cincinnati, Mason, Loveland, Milford, West Chester, Liberty Township, Lebanon, Batavia, Amelia and Anderson. Across the river it includes Bellevue, Cold Spring, Erlanger, Edgewood and Fort Mitchell. The full list is on our service areas page.

Do you do both concrete and asphalt?

Yes, along with floor coatings. If your project spans more than one material, for example a concrete patio and an asphalt driveway, that is one contractor and one schedule rather than several.

Are you hiring?

We hire laborers and crew members, crew leads and foremen, CDL drivers, and estimators or project coordinators. No experience is needed for laborer roles and training is paid and on the job. Current openings are listed on our careers page.
